Torn to shreds US woman attacked by snake and hawk – at same time

A US woman has been left bloodied and “traumatised” after being attacked by a snake and a hawk at the same time.
Peggy Jones’ ordeal began after the bird of prey accidentally dropped a serpent on her while she was mowing her backyard in Silsbee, Texas last month.
A fierce three-way tussle ensued after the reptile wrapped itself around the 64-year-old’s arm.
Peggy Jones said the snake immediately started striking at her face.

“It (the snake) was starting to dart at my face…and he was striking my glasses and he just kept on and kept on,” she said.

“I just couldn’t get rid of the snake.

“I think I went into survival mode.”

Then the hawk descended from above.

“The hawk came down four times to get the snake off me,” she said.
Eventually, the taloned raptor pulled the snake from Jones’ arm, leaving her cut and bloodied.
“When I looked down I had blood all over my clothes, blood all over my arm, my arm was torn to shreds. I had severe bruising,” she said.
Jones was rushed to hospital where she found out some good news; the snake had not bitten her.
But she said she’s been left traumatised.
“You try to sleep at night, you can’t sleep, and you’re afraid to shut your eyes because you know if you shut your eyes you will have a nightmare and relive the situation.
“I’m happy I’m alive. I’m happy I’m here.”
“It showed me how in a blink of an eye things can change. I feel differently about life now.”
