Severe thunderstorm, flooding hits parts of the NSW northern tablelands
Residents in parts of the NSW northern tablelands are being told to batten down the hatches as a severe thunderstorm warning remains in place.
Trees are down, roofs are damaged and there’s flooding to many businesses, including a childcare business in west Tamworth.
Emergency services have been called to more than 40 jobs in the Tamworth area today, a large amount for the regional city.
The Bureau of Meteorology said 27.8mm of rain was recorded in the 30 minutes to 3.47pm at Inverell.
“Reports of around one centimetre diameter hail at Inverell, Tamworth and Bukkulla,” the BoM said.
The Bureau of Meteorology said several areas may continue to experience damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall in the coming hours. Flash flooding is also possible
Locations which may be affected include Tamworth, Inverell, Gunnedah, Moree, Narrabri and Coonabarabran.
