No new local COVID-19 cases in Queensland as authorities race to track unvaccinated Uber driver’s movements

The condition of Gold Coast Uber driver Duran Raman has worsened overnight, as police attempt to figure how and when the positive COVID-19 case crossed the Queensland border.
The unvaccinated 36-year-old, who was yesterday declared Queensland’s first positive COVID-19 case in 15 days, is predicted to have been infectious in the community for up to 10 days.
It’s reported he was in New South Wales and Victoria, before entering Queensland.
While authorities attempt to track his movements, the Gold Coast resident is currently in intensive care and a serious condition, unable to speak to police.
Despite his movements in the community, Queensland has recorded no new local COVID-19 cases today.
“Once again, Queensland fantastic effort,” Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said.
“We have had five cases of people coming in from overseas that have been detected in hotel quarantine. We are seeing those numbers increase again.
“We have had 6,330 tests in the past 24 hours and Queensland Health has administered 15,681 vaccines yesterday.”

The Gold Coast man who tested positive to COVID-19 yesterday is extremely sick and will likely be moved into intensive care, Chief Health Officer Dr Jeanette Young said.
“I am sorry I have to report he is very unwell,” she said.
“They are keeping a very close eye on him.
“He is on high-flow oxygen and he will probably need to go into intensive care.
“That is terrible.
“He is a very young, fit man who was not vaccinated and he is now extremely sick.”

Truck driver infectious while in Queensland

Dr Young said that authorities are investigating where a truck driver who entered Queensland while infectious with COVID-19 had visited.
“He’s now currently in Victoria but he tested positive on October 20 and was here infectious in our community on the 18th and 19th of October,” she said.
“We have already put up some venues that he has been at.
“It is really important, we know we can get virus in our community at any point in time, so the protection to that is to just get vaccinated.”
