New exposure sites for Sydney hotspot suburbs including IKEA

The number of exposure sites in Sydney’s south west has grown again with NSW Health issuing an alert for several venues including a Coles and butcher in Lakemba.
The alert, issued just before 6pm, includes four new primary exposure venues in Liverpool, Hurstville, Lakemba and Marsden Park.
There are also a dozen secondary exposure venues listed, several of which are located in the hotspot suburb of Fairfield.

Earlier this afternoon, thousands of people were directed to get tested and isolate after an infectious COVID-19 case spent two days at an Ikea store in Sydney’s north-west.
The Ikea in Marsden Park has been deemed an exposure site by NSW Health.
Anyone who was at the store on Monday from 11.30am until 7.30pm or Tuesday from 8am until 4.20pm is being told to get tested immediately and self-isolate.
In a statement published on their website, Ikea said a deep clean of the store had already been completed.
The store is closed to customers today with all existing bookings being rescheduled, but home deliveries will continue to operate.
Earlier, a petrol station in a rural New South Wales town was named as a primary exposure site after a person infected with COVID-19 stopped in.
Anyone who visited the Shell petrol station in Hay on the Stuart Highway, in the state’s south-west, on July 10 between 7.30am and 8am is now a close contact and must isolate for 14 days.
The alert from NSW Health also includes a raft of locations across suburbs in Sydney’s west and south-west, including a McDonald’s drive-through in Punchbowl.
The new exposure sites are worrying news for the city’s south-west, which remains the epicentre of the NSW outbreak.
The high number of COVID-19 cases and exposure venues in the Fairfield area means essential workers must now be tested for COVID-19 every three days, even if they do not have symptoms.
