Melbourne woman charged after older sister dies in fatal crash

A young woman has been charged over the death of her older sister in a crash during an apparent argument in Melbourne.
It is alleged the older sister, 24, had been getting out of a car when it accelerated, dragging her along the road and crushing her against a parked car in Sunshine yesterday.
Witness Daniel Gomez was walking to pick up his children about 3pm when he said he was confronted by two women arguing and running back and forth from a car.

“All of a sudden the individual got in and just took off in a hurry with the other individual hanging out the side of the door,” Gomez said.
He said residents in the street started helping the injured woman.
“Just trying to calm her down because the blood was just coming out left, right and centre,” he said.
“We tried to do the best we (could) just to keep her alive.”

The 24-year-old suffered head injuries but she was conscious and talking to those giving her first aid.
She was taken to the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where she later died.
The younger sister, 22, has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, failing to stop and failing to render assistance.
She was expected to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court this evening.
