Dutton reiterates opposition to ‘city-based’ Indigenous Voice proposal

Opposition Leader Peter Dutton has reiterated the Liberal Party will oppose the Indigenous Voice to parliament at the referendum and accused Prime Minister Anthony Albanese of dividing Australians.
Dutton, whose position has come under intense scrutiny since the party’s failure in the Ashton by-election, was speaking on Today this morning.
Today presenter Karl Stefanovic put it to him that the Liberals were losing relevance.

“It is a no to the Voice. Is that because the Liberal Party has none at the moment?”
Dutton insisted the Liberal’s model of a regional advisory body instead of “city-based academics” would deliver better outcomes for Indigenous Australians.
“I think Australians are starting to realise this is a significant challenge to our constitution … it may just be another bureaucracy that’s not going to help Indigenous Australians.”
