Body conditioner sold at Coles recalled over ‘infection-causing’ bacteria

A body conditioner sold in Coles has been recalled over concerns it’s contaminated with illness-causing bacteria.
The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) said some batches of Beach Road Naturals’ In-Shower Body Conditioner are contaminated with the Pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria.
The regulatory body said the bacteria can cause infection and illness, particularly in people with weakened immune systems.

The ACCC has warned other bacteria may breed in the product if use continues as there’s an insufficient preservative in the product with batch number BF601.
Customers have been told to stop using the product immediately if it has the following barcode number and scents:
  • 93489180038902 Organic Rose Water
  • 9348918003883 Shea & Vanilla
The infected products were sold in Coles stores nationally between February 1 and 6 February this year.
“Consumers must stop using the body conditioner immediately if the product is part of the affected batch and dispose or return to store for a full refund,” the ACCC said.
