Australia Post preparing for ‘biggest month ever’ with several online sale events
Australia Post is gearing up for what it is expecting to be the biggest online shopping month ever, with Aussies set to take advantage of online sale events amid cost-of-living pressures.
The mail service is anticipating it will be delivering hundreds of thousands more parcels that the record 21 million parcels delivered during sales last November.
Australia Post said it is expecting a three per cent increase in online purchases in the five weeks before Christmas as shoppers hunt bargains with inflationary pressures impacting household budgets.
Australia Post’s executive general manager of customer and commercial Gary Starr said the upcoming cyber sales month is a perfect opportunity for Australians to get a good deal before Christmas.
“These sales are the peak online shopping events of the year and we’re expecting to see the biggest November ever with millions of Australians bagging a bargain ahead of Christmas,” he said.
The online sale events begin with Click Frenzy from today to November 10, followed by Singles Day on November 11, Black Friday on November 25 and Cyber Monday on November 28.
Australia Post has hired 6000 new employees to help sort and deliver parcels and will be making weekend and evening deliveries “where they are most needed” to deal with the shopping rush.
The service previously announced its deadlines for sending gifts to arrive in time for Christmas, with most Aussies having just over a month to get their presents in the post if they want to send them interstate.
