Brisbane man charged over Christmas Day carjacking
Police have charged a 20-year-old Brisbane man with violent robbery offences and the alleged kidnapping of two young children on Christmas Day.
On late afternoon December 25, police allege the man from Capalaba approached a Mazda CX-5 at a service station in Logan, assaulted a 26-year-old woman and attempted to steal her vehicle.
The woman was saved when a passer-by intervened and the man left empty-handed.
A short time later police allege he approached a Nissan Pathfinder parked up at another service station in Logan and entered the vehicle.
The 26-year-old female passenger got out of the vehicle and the man allegedly drove off with her two young children seated in the back.
The children were located unharmed at a service station in Cornubia, in east Logan, shortly after.
Both women sustained minor injuries in the alleged incidents.
The man was charged with two counts each of kidnapping and assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of unlawful entry of a motor vehicle and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is scheduled to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today.
