Two teens charged after stabbing of Gold Coast security guard
Two teenagers, the youngest just 13, have been charged with attempted murder after a security guard was stabbed at a shopping centre on the Gold Coast.
Officers were called to Westfield Helensvale at about 7.45am following reports of a disturbance during which the 57-year-old male security guard sustained stab wounds.
He was taken to the Gold Coast University Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Those involved fled the scene in a stolen black Holden Trax.
“It will be further alleged the Holden Trax was stolen on August 24 after three males assaulted a woman and stole her keys in a business carpark on Mount Warren Boulevard at Mount Warren,” police said.
Police tracked the vehicle, which was intercepted at Distillery Road at Beenleigh about 8.35am.
Four people were arrested.
A 19-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder, robbery with violence, attempt to enter the premises and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
A 13-year-old girl has been charged with attempted murder.
Both will face court on Saturday.
“Further suspects are expected to be charged over the coming days,” police said.
A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing.
