Woman charged with attempted murder as alleged victim remains in induced coma weeks after petrol attack
A young woman is in an induced coma in hospital two weeks after allegedly being set alight on a neighbourhood street in regional Victoria, with her alleged attacker now charged with attempted murder.
Paris Carpio-Woodley was airlifted to hospital with critical injuries after the incident, and she remains in a serious but stable condition.
Shepparton woman Jordan Spencer, 33, has been charged with attempted murder and appeared in court after allegedly dousing the 20-year-old Carpio-Woodley in petrol and setting her on fire in Shepparton on January 15.
The family of the victim have launched a crowdfunding page to support her recovery, so far raising just over $3000.
Caprio-Woodley has been in hospital recovering from burns since the alleged attack just over two weeks ago.
The family said she remains in an induced coma while she recovers.
“Our strong, beautiful woman has a long journey ahead of her,” they said.
“Paris is absolutely adored wherever she goes. She has a heart of gold and she has a beautiful contagious smile and laugh.
“Anyone that meets Paris would say the same.”
Police today charged 33-year-old Spencer over the alleged attack in northern Victoria.
She has been charged with attempted murder and intentionally causing serious injury in circumstances of gross violence.
Police believe the women are known to each other.
Spencer briefly faced court today and has been remanded in custody until her next hearing in June.
