Woman charged after baby rushed to Queensland hospital
A woman from Townsville, North Queensland has been arrested and charged with grievous bodily harm after a baby was discovered in a critical condition earlier this year.
Police were called to a Kelso address on March 29 following reports the five-month-old girl had been found unresponsive.
The girl was seriously injured and was transported to Townsville University Hospital.
Police said she remained in a serious but stable condition.
A 22-year-old woman from Kelso was arrested on Friday in relation to the incident following extensive investigations by the Townsville Child Protection Investigation Unit.
Police said she had been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, a domestic violence offence, as part of Operation Uniform Makua.
Police said the woman and baby were known to each other.
She was granted bail and will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on August 5.
The investigation is ongoing.
