Tradies perform citizen’s arrest after allegedly stolen car crashes
A group of tradies have performed a citizen’s arrest after a man allegedly tried to flee from a car crash in Queensland.
An allegedly stolen Ford Mondeo crashed into a power pole in Broadbeach just after 11am today.
Two construction workers were on a smoke break when they witnessed the crash, claiming the man tried to run from the scene before they chased him down.
Local resident Bobby-Jo Campbell heard the crash from his house and jumped in to help the tradies restain the man.
“(I was) just about to make a coffee and heard the crash outside,” he told 9News.
“(I) came out to see all the boys on the construction site there running after some bloke, jumped off my balcony to try to help out.”
The group held the man down until police arrived.
“They’ve done a great job, I don’t encourage it. But they’ve certainly done a great job today bringing that male into custody,” Sergeant Mitch Grey said.
The car was reported as stolen from Bilambil Heights in New South Wales on Tuesday.
The man was wanted by Queensland Police prior to his arrest today.
