South Australian young gun’s insane one-day innings breaks AB de Villiers’ world record
South Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk has brought up the fastest-ever white-ball century worldwide, smashing 100 runs off just 29 balls in the Marsh One-Day Cup against Tasmania.
McGurk’s blistering ton topped South African legend AB de Villiers’ world record of 31 balls for the fastest one-day century.
The 21-year-old also struck the fastest-ever half-century in Australian 50-over cricket, reaching 50 from just 18 balls to beat Glenn Maxwell’s record of 19 deliveries.
Fraser-McGurk went on to make 125 runs off just 38 balls.
“The most incredible striking,” wrote cricket reporter Andrew McGlashan on X, formerly Twitter.
His astounding innings is helping South Australia chase 436 for victory, after Tasmania’s Jordan Silk notched up 116 runs off 85 balls.
Fraser-McGurk at one stage of his innings smashed five consecutive sixes.
The right-hander reached his second 50 off just 11 balls.
He was caught on the mid-wicket boundary in the 12th over, but left the ground with 13 sixes and 10 fours.
His Sunday ton notched up his first century across all professional formats.
It’s only Fraser-McGurk’s fourth match for South Australia, with the 21-year-old preparing for his summer stint with the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash League.
