SA woman dies after alleged DV assault by former army officer husband
A woman has died after her husband allegedly assaulted her at home near Adelaide.
Cherry Ogar was rushed from the Port Hughes home to Wallaroo Hospital on Monday after she was allegedly beaten on Sunday night.
Ms Ogar was in a critical condition when she was airlifted to the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where police said she died today.
Detectives spent hours analysing the home on the Yorke Peninsula and talking to witnesses before charging Antony Ogar, 58, with aggravated assault causing serious harm.
His charges are now expected to be upgraded to murder, SA Police said.
Mr Ogar told police his 37-year-old wife was drunk and fell backwards, the court heard, but prosecutors said his version of events was “chilling and inconsistent”.
Antony Ogar, 58, is accused of the aggravated assault causing serious harm of Cherry Ogar in Port Hughes, near Adelaide.
Prosecutors said the former army officer “simply cannot explain” why the victim has a “huge lump” on her forehead the size of a “golf ball or tennis ball”.

The court heard the accused’s step-daughter, who used to live with the couple, said she saw multiple examples of domestic violence, an accusation the 58-year-old denied, saying his step-daughter was just looking for someone to blame.
Mr Ogar was refused bail, to face court again in December.
