Queensland police officer accidentally shot in training exercise
Police are investigating the accidental shooting of an officer during a gun training session in rural Queensland.
The male sergeant was shot once in the calf by another officer during a live-fire training session about 10am on Thursday in Childers, about 40 kilometres south of Bundaberg.
The Queensland Police service described the incident as an “accidental discharge”.
It’s understood the sergeant tried to stop another officer from tripping as they were moving backwards.
Police said the sergeant was in a stable condition after being taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“Support is being provided to both officers and their colleagues and families,” the QPS said, in a statement.
