One new local COVID-19 case recorded in Queensland as 40 per cent of eligible residents officially double-vaccinated

Queensland has recorded one new local COVID-19 case overnight as 40 per cent of the state’s eligible residents now officially double-vaccinated.
The new case was already in home-quarantine when they tested positive and is linked to the Sunnybank cluster, which now stands at 11.
Health Minister Yvette D’Ath said that the person had been in isolation throughout their entire infectious period.
“A big shout out to all of those people who have been identified as close contacts by our contact tracers and have gone into quarantine,” she said.
“Their decision to do the right thing, and abide by those directives to stay home is the decision that is keeping everyone safe and stopping this virus spreading throughout our community.”
There are now 29 active cases across Queensland.
More than 11,400 tests were conducted overnight as well as some 25,000 vaccines administered.
Ms D’Ath said that now almost 59 per cent of Queensland residents had received a single jab and overnight the state hit 40 per cent double-doses.
“We have 58.75 per cent of eligible Queenslanders who have had their first dose and exciting news that overnight we have tipped over the 40 per cent mark,” she said.
“So we have 40.54 per cent of eligible Queenslanders fully vaccinated.
“Remember across the country, our target is to have 80 per cent of the population who are eligible, fully vaccinated, so we are halfway there Queenslanders. Let’s keep it going.”
Queensland Health Minister Yvette D'Ath expressed frustration about inaccuracy surrounding the ADF's personnel request.

Amid a Pfizer vaccine blitz this weekend, Ms D’Ath urged residents to honour bookings and show up early after reports of extensive queues.
“Please turn up for your booking…I’m already hearing some of our sites are hitting capacity,” she said.
“So, the Logan Entertainment Centre, currently, are cutting off their walk-ins and redirecting people to other sites.

“Throughout the day we will be letting people in the lines know whether we need to turn them away for today, and whether they should either go to other sites.”
