Man stabbed in suspected road rage attack in Sydney’s south-west
A man has undergone emergency surgery after being stabbed in a suspected road rage attack in Sydney’s south-west.
The 46-year-old was stopped at the intersection of the Hume Highway and Cabramatta Road in Cabramatta about 8pm yesterday.
Security footage captured the moment a black Toyota Aurion pulled up at the set of traffic lights before the Yaris.
Two men are then seen getting out of the black car and allegedly stabbing the driver of the white vehicle in the abdomen.
The Aurion is then seen leaving the scene while the Yaris rolls through an intersection, mounts a curb and stops on the footpath.
Police are now looking to speak to at least four people who were travelling in two different cars.
Investigators are looking into what led up to the stabbing, and believe it may have been connected to an earlier road rage incident involving another white SUV.
“We do keep an open mind in relation to the fact that there was an interaction prior to the stabbing and what the connection may be,” Detective Superintendent Michael McLean said.
“But we also keep an open mind in relating to whether there are some targeted aspects.
“Most often these things don’t just occur for no particular reason.”
The alleged victim is now in a serious but stable condition in hospital, NSW Ambulance said.
