Influencer arrested over ‘uncool’ Hollywood sign stunt
A US influencer is among a half-dozen people taken into custody after altering California’s iconic Hollywood sign to read “Hollyboob”.
The group affixed large tarps to the sign to change the letters, according to Sgt. Leonard Calderon of the Los Angeles Police Department, who said participants told an officer they did so to raise awareness for breast cancer.
A tarp of the letter ‘B’ was draped over the ‘W’, while a dash was placed across the ‘D’ to make it appear as a ‘B’.
Julia Rose, founder of adult magazine Shagmag, has now come out claiming the stunt was against Instagram’s censorship of adult content.
The model has had her personal and business accounts – which had a total of six million followers – were suspended for nudity.
“My product is nearly identical to that of Playboy’s, and my content may even be considered safer than what Playboy’s has been allowed to publish on your platform,” Rose told Vice.
“I want to know how they are picking and choosing which accounts to disable and why.”
Julia previously made headlines when she was banned indefinitely by Major League Baseball after flashing one of the players at the 2019 World Series.
The Hollywood sign stunt resulted in an LAPD chopper flyby to pinpoint the six suspects, five men and one woman.
They were taken into custody on suspicion of trespassing but were later issued citations and released.
“Los Angeles landmarks are precious to those of us @LAPDHollywood and this was way uncool (not to mention the terrain is quite steep & dangerous),” Los Angeles Police Captain Steve Lurie tweeted shortly after the incident.
