The family of a pregnant mother who died after she was attacked by a teenager at a Perth shopping centre said she had a “wicked attitude” and was loved by all.
Diane Miller, 30, died at 1.46am AWST (4.46am AEDT) today at Royal Perth Hospital.
Her unborn child, who was five months along, also died.
Her partner, Philip Edmonds, said he’s still in shock and struggling to comprehend her death.
“We’re too sore to do anything at the moment,” he said.
“She had a wicked attitude, I loved her. We all loved her as one and it’s brought us together. That’s my baby girl and that was my baby inside.
“She was one good girl. I loved her with all my life. I’ll love her until the day I die.
“We’re all one mob and I can’t say anything more. It’s too hard.”
Miller’s nieces Marika, Keyanna, and Brianna said their aunt was a funny person and they could never be sad around her.
“She brings joy to everyone,” they said.
“She was funny, happy, had an attitude all the time.”
Marika was in the car with Miller when the piece of concrete was launched through the passenger window.
Miller’s uncle Primus Hansen said what happened to the 30-year-old should never have happened to anyone and now it’s up to the police to investigate.
“We don’t wish it on anybody,” he said.
“We lost two people out of it, we don’t want another one.”
Miller had been in intensive care in hospital after a teenager allegedly threw a piece of concrete at her during an unprovoked melee at Waterford Plaza Shopping Centre carpark in Karawara.
She was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital where she was placed in a medically induced coma.
Her brother Malcolm Clifton confirmed overnight that his sister had died.
“Everyone’s destroyed,” he told NITV News.
“We just lost our world … the baby passed away too.”
On Thursday, Miller’s brother Clifton talked lovingly about his sister, telling 6PR Mornings that Miller acted like she was the oldest sibling, supported everyone and was “everyone’s rock … the most beautiful person anyone had met”.
Clifton said his sister was just getting her life on track.
“She just got a house, everything was working out for her and now everything is just gone,” he said.
A 17-year-old from Kensington has been charged with grievous bodily harm and breach of bail.
Homicide detectives have taken on the investigation and charges could be upgraded.
Police said others involved in the scuffle may be charged.
Detectives are calling for anyone who witnessed the incident, or has mobile phone or dashcam footage taken in the carpark between 7pm and 7.30pm, to contact Crime Stoppers.
