Female prison worker charged over alleged relationship with inmate
A female prison worker has been charged after allegedly having an inappropriate relationship with a male inmate at a jail in the Central West of New South Wales.
The 47-year-old Bathurst woman will face court next month, with police to allege she “engaged in inappropriate activity” with the inmate for a two-week period in October.
NSW detectives launched an investigation last week after reports emerged of the alleged relationship at Kirkconnell Correctional Centre.
Following that investigation, the prison employee was issued a Field Court Attendance Notice to attend court for the charge of engaging in a relationship with an inmate causing safety risk.
The woman’s employment has been suspended.
She will appear at Lithgow Local Court on Wednesday, November 17.
