Dumped condom boxes investigated after Melbourne women get vile mail
Police are investigating whether 88 condom boxes dumped in wetlands in Melbourne’s east could be linked to dozens of women being sent seemingly used condoms with creepy letters.
A cardboard box containing 88 sealed condom boxes was found in wetlands near Patterson Drive in Lynbrook about 10am yesterday and handed into police.
The find came a day after police called for help to identify who has been harassing more than 65 women around the Bayside area – about 20 kilometres from the CBD – since March 20.
The women all attended Kilbreda College during the 1990s.
Police suspect someone has obtained a student book made in Year 12 which listed the women’s addresses.
Most of the women have received multiple sexually explicit handwritten letters with condoms that appear to be used.
Police said more than 100 had been received.
Former Kilbreda College student Bree was one of the first to receive the disturbing mail.
“I got a call from my mum late at night, saying she had found an odd letter in the mail addressed to me,” she said.
“She opened it and her reaction was shock, and she was quite upset.”
Anyone with information on the packages, or the recently dumped packets are urged to come forward.
Anyone who can assist investigators should contact Crime Stoppers.
