Premier Daniel Andrews has said as many people as possible will be able to be at the MCG.
“There will be no limits on crowds and that sort of stuff,” he said.
“It will be a very big event, it will be a celebration of his life as it should be.”
It s expected several of Warnie’s celebrity mates will be in attendance, including Coldplay’s Chris Martin and singer Ed Sheeran, who performed at Michael Gudinski’s state funeral almost a year ago to the day.
The British singer shared a photo tribute to Warne on Instagram following his death, saying he was “absolutely gutted” and revealing he had spoken to Warne just that week.
“Shane was the kindest heart, and always went above and beyond to make people feel welcome and special,” Sheeran wrote.
“Such a gentleman. He gave so many hours and years of his life to bring joy to others, and was such an amazing friend to me. I’ll bloody miss you mate.”
