Police investigating after child critical with serious injuries in Tasmania
Police have launched an investigation after a young child was seriously injured under ‘suspicious’ circumstances in Tasmania.
A child was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with injuries relating to a believed serious assault.
The child was picked up by an ambulance from a home in Warrane around 1.10am in a critical condition.
Police were called to the hospital four hours later.
Investigations are ongoing by Bellerive CIB.
“Police including officers from CIB, Forensics and Uniform are continuing to investigate and conduct examinations,” police said in a statement.
“This is expected to take some time.”
The child remains at the hospital, and their condition has not improved.
The public has been urged by police to report any information to Crime Stoppers.
