What you can and can’t do this weekend under Sydney’s eased COVID-19 restrictions

Sydneysiders are waking up to their first weekend with greater freedoms as borders reopen and coronavirus restrictions relax.
It comes as the state records 13 days with no new cases of community transmission of COVID-19.
Today marks the first Saturday of 2021 where private gatherings of more than five guests will be permitted after caps were extended to 30 guests this week.
The state’s mask mandate has also relaxed, with people in greater Sydney no longer forced to wear a face covering while shopping in certain settings.
Masks are still mandatory on public transport, in beauty salons and for workers in hospitality.
As many as 300 people can now attend weddings, subject to the one person per four-square-metre rule.
Anyone planning an outdoor event, like a picnic or day at the beach, will be permitted to have a total of 50 people in attendance.
People living in Greater Sydney are now able to travel freely into Victoria and the ACT with Queensland set to join the list on Monday.
As of 6pm last night, all Greater Sydney LGAs bar Cumberland moved from orange to green zones under Victoria’s traffic light system.
Cumberland remains the only orange zone, requiring residents to be tested with 72 hours of arriving in Victoria.
