Trump’s former Chief of Staff on Biden’s biggest challenges ahead

Donald Trump’s former Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said while he expects President Joe Biden to go through a honeymoon period, he has an uphill battle ahead.

“It will be interesting to see if he is able to deliver on the messages of unity that he tried to talk about today in his first speech as president,” Mr Mulvaney told A Current Affair host Tracy Grimshaw.

When it comes to the mammoth job Mr Biden has ahead of him, particularly with the 70 million Trump voters, Mr Mulvaney said he thinks it will be difficult to fulfill his promise.

Particularly with the Democrats facing the same division that plagues the Republicans.

“The left-wing, the extreme left-wing is very ascended in his party and that’s not really where he’s from, so he has to deal with those intraparty issues,” Mr Mulvaney said.

And while Mr Mulvaney admits the new President triumphed with the highest recorded number of presidency votes in US history, he believes the votes weren’t for Biden – but against Trump.
