About 2.30pm on Sunday, 31-year-old Finlay-Jones was found with serious injuries at a home on Borrowdale Way. She was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
Police believe she had earlier been in the company of a man she’d met on a dating app.
Officers were told the woman was staying at the house, which belonged to friends.
Her family has requested privacy while they grieve the loss of their daughter.
“While her family appreciate the media’s interest, they have requested their privacy at this difficult time in their lives,” police said in a statement.
A preschool in Peakhurst, where Finlay-Jones previously worked, described her as a passionate and dedicated educator.
“It is with utter devastation that we express our deepest sorrow and condolences to all the family and friends of Danielle.

“Danielle was not only a passionate educator at our service but also a highly talented teacher who dedicated her career to truly wanting to make a difference in the lives of young children.
“Danielle was a great friend to us as well and many others. She has touched many hearts with her beautiful smile and her amazing personality which will always be remembered.
“The loss of such a beautiful soul is heartbreaking and she will missed abundantly.”
Gaddie is expected to undergo assessment before being taken to Katoomba Police Station, where he will be charged with murder, NSW Police said in a statement.
