Man dead after being found in basement carpark

The basement of a Sydney apartment block was transformed into a crime scene this afternoon after a man was discovered unresponsive and suffering critical head injuries.
Police were called to the apartment on Kings Cross Road in Rushcutters Bay around 1.50pm after reports of an assault.
Police and ambulance members arrived to find a 39-year-old man unresponsive in the basement parking area.

A man was arrested and a second man was led away from the scene by police wearing a forensic suit. (9News)
The victim was given CPR before being rushed to St Vincent’s Hospital in a critical condition however he died shortly after.
A short time later, a 49-year-old was arrested at the scene of the crime and taken to King Cross Police Station, where he is assisting officers with their investigation.
A third man was also escorted from the scene by police wearing a forensic suit.
Police later revealed the man had been assisting the victim, wearing little to no clothing and had been given the suit by police before being led away from the crime scene.
Police said they do not believe the incident to be a random attack however authorities will pursue all lines of inquiry as to the circumstances surrounding the alleged assault.
Police are now appealing for more information as they establish the circumstances surrounding the attack. (9News)
